Shelby Replicates the 1966 GT40 Mk. II for Its 50th Anniversary
A tribute to an icon of American automotive genius.
The original 1966 Shelby GT40 Mk. II muscle car that dominated the podium at the 24-hour Le Mans endurance race of that year has gone down in the history books as one of the greatest cars to be produced by the American automotive industry. It’s no surprise that Superperformance chose to commemorate that vehicle by building an almost-exact replica for its 50th anniversary this year in collaboration with Shelby and Safir. Limited to 20 units, the car is so faithful to the original that over 90 percent of its parts can be used interchangeably with its predecessor, including its right-hand drive and right-hand shift. Complete with a GT40P serial number, the Shelby GT40 Mk. II 50th Anniversary Le Mans Edition is available in three different colorways to match the three podium finished of Le Mans 1966.
