Kanye West & Madlib Originally Made "No More Parties in LA" for 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'
‘Ye’s new track with Madlib has been tucked away since 2010.
Just a few hours ago Kanye surprised fans with a snippet of two new tracks. West delivered poignant lyrics over mellow beats (courtesy of Frank Dukes, Havoc, SEVNTHOMAS and Boi-1da) in ”Real Friends” (featuring Ty Dolla $ign) and “No More Parties in LA” (featuring Kendrick Lamar), which have been reminding longtime fans that the old Kanye is back.
The latter song, “No More Parties in LA,” was produced by Madlib and has only solidified the fact that the two are nothing short of glorious together. In this old Stones Throw documentary called Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton, Kanye professes his admiration for Madlib’s production talents. ”Matter fact now that you brought this up, we have to get more Madlib beats for the next project,” says Kanye after he sings the lyrics of the chorus to ”No More Parties in LA” (around 22 minutes in).
The two first hit the studio together in 2010, the year ‘Ye released My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. At the time Madlib had told LA Weekly that he had made five beats for Kanye which were put “on hold for his new album,” but in fact were never released. In light of the recent announcement of the upcoming February 11 release date of SWISH, ‘Ye has left fans wondering about the highly anticipated album: will there be more Kanye and Madlib? Watch the exchange in the video above, with Kanye describing the song around the 21:45 mark.
