Klangstof Brings Attention to PTSD in "Hostage" Video

The Nordic Mind of a Genius signee spotlights a war veteran’s post-traumatic stress disorder.

Klangstof‘s “Hostage” is one of the more impressive and original-sounding tracks of the year thus far, and the Nordic singer-songwriter-producer recently released the track’s music video. Directed by Menno, the visual finds a veteran named Adrien, who plays the “king” who has fallen in the lyrics, stuggling from what seems to be post-traumatic stress disorder. He lives alone in the forest and is constantly haunted by reminders of wartime. Klangstof wrote in an email to The FADER:

“When I met Menno, we shared the same initial idea. ‘Hostage’ is about feeling annoyingly uncomfortable. In my case, this usually results in me locking myself up in the studio, staring at some synthesizers. In Adrien’s case it results in anger and uncontrollable behavior. But, at the end of the day I really see the beauty in those moments as well. I believe people are their realest when they feel down and locked up in their own minds.”
