EXCLUSIVE: Marty Baller Details New Mixtape and Shares New Summer Anthem, "Flex"
“Your next move is your best move.”
You may know of Marty Baller as ASAP Ferg’s right hand man when they’re rocking mics around the world or even noticed him the face of Trap Lord. Now, with the release of his first single taken from his upcoming MARTYGRAW project, the Harlem rapper is beginning to establish his name in the industry as a true artist. Marty is also the first artist off A$AP Ferg’s imprint, Trillagain Island Records and as he explains, we can expect a lot of upbeat records that’ll get any party started. “What inspired the title MARTYGRAW was New Orleans. I love to start a party, I’m the party king, so at my shows I want to create that feeling. You know, a lot of people just enjoying themselves. The break down is this, MARTY-G-RAW because I’m so raw when I spit.” Read the full interview below along with Marty Baller’s “Flex” single taken from his upcoming MARTYGRAW project due out in August.
What was the concept behind your new video/single?
Basically just stunting on anyone hating. You know, trying to stop what you got going on. You flex on them one time.
Tell us about the dynamic of you and A$AP Ferg’s relationship.
Well Ferg and I grew up on the same block, from the sandbox, from the same junior highschool, same high school. He’s basically my brother and blood couldn’t even make us any closer.
Tell us a little about your upcoming MARTYGRAW project and what can we expect on it?
What inspired the title MARTYGRAW was New Orleans. I love to start a party, I’m the party king, so at my shows I want to create that feeling. You know, a lot of people just enjoying themselves. The break down is this, MARTY-G-RAW because I’m so raw when I spit.
Biggest music moment for you so far in your career?
When I performed with A$AP Ferg and Skrillex at Madison Square Garden on New Years Day. I dropped two of my songs that night and it was completely sold out too, so that was crazy.
What’s the best food spot in Harlem?
Best food spot right now I’m rocking with is Lighthouse Fish Market & Restaurant up in Harlem.
Best piece of advice you ever got?
Your next move is your best move.
What’s next for Marty Baller?
Dropping more new records. I’m also touring overseas this summer on the ‘Level Up Tour’ with A$AP Ferg and I plan on dropping more videos, just working!!(laughs)
