Phife Dawg's Family Release Official Statement on his Passing & Reveal Cause of Death

As we previously reported, A Tribe Called Quest legend Phife Dawg passed away earlier in the week. The news was initially revealed by DJ Chuck Chillout and confirmed by Statik Selektah as well. Reactions have been pouring in from all over, with a diverse group of artists that includes rappers such as Kendrick Lamar El-P and producers like Flying Lotus have also been sending their condolences and tributes. “We regret to share the news that on Tuesday March 22, 2016, Malik has passed away due to complications resulting from diabetes.
Malik was our loving husband, father, brother and friend. We love him dearly. How he impacted all our lives will never be forgotten. His love for music and sports was only surpassed by his love of God and family.”
