Until now, who would have thought we needed a project full of Bonnie “Prince” Billy covering Prince? One of the singer-songwriter craft’s greatest masters of melancholy has served up a pretty powerful cover of Prince’s “The Cross,” and allowed for it to be streamed courtesy of NPR. The cover was originally cooked up for a John Peel session in 1994, but will finally see an official release now as part of Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s new album Pond Scum, which will also feature more cuts from these old sessions.
