Cast Away and Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis tackles the mixed legacy of New York City’s Twin Towers and the death-defying tightrope stunt performed by high-wire artist Philippe Petit in 1974 in his latest film, The Walk. In the extended five-minute trailer above, we follow Petit from the conception of the idea that would define his life, to arriving in New York, recruiting the talents of a ragtag crew, outsmarting the authorities, all the way to completing the stunt, the likes of which have never been seen since. Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Petit, alongside Charlotte Le Bon and Ben Kingsley, The Walk will be released in cinemas on September 30 in IMAX 3D.
