New Announcements Regarding Disney's Plans for 'Star Wars Land'
New updates with what to expect for Disneyland’s ‘Star Wars’ theme park.

During this weekend’s D23 event in Florida, Disney took the opportunity to update fans with more news regarding what to expect in its plans for a Star Wars-branded theme park. Disney CEO Bob Iger took the stage to announce that the project will commence at the Disneyland in Anaheim, California, as well as Florida’s Walt Disney World. According to Iger, the plans include “creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever…These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”
New attractions include a battle between the First Order Group and The Resistance, while another attraction will put guests in control of Han Solo’s Millenium Falcon in a “customized secret mission.” Spanning over 14 acres, the new space will also include the Hyperspace Mountain, which will reimagine the existing Tomorrowland ride, Space Mountain. Disney will also be overhauling the current “Star Tours,” which will be updated with Star Wars characters and a “Jedi Training Academy.” Additionally, the Star Wars Launch Bay will be inaugurated later this year at both parks, with interactive experiences and an inside look at the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens film.
