Kanye West Will Be Awarded the Video Vanguard Award at 2015 MTV VMAs
Yeezus’ body of work will be honored with the highest accolade from MTV.

Kanye West will have another accolade to add to his long list of awards, this time, the Video Vanguard Award from MTV. The award is the highest honor from the music network, and is given to a musician who has profound influence over MTV’s culture, honoring an artist’s body of work. Previous winners include Madonna, U2, Justin Timberlake, the Beastie Boys and of course, Michael Jackson. According to the MTV press release, “Yeezus has more than earned this honor, after years of releasing groundbreaking music and accompanying videos that have always pushed the envelope. From “Through the Wire,” to “Runaway” and “Bound 2,” his creative depths have never ceased to amaze us, and some could argue that his videos are complete masterpieces in their own right.”
Kanye will be gracing the same stage of which he infamously stormed onto in 2009 against Taylor Swift, but this time it’ll likely be a more mundane affair. Tune into the MTV VMA Awards August 30 at 9 p.m.
