Signature Hot Dogs Across America
A dog-by-dog breakdown of how America tops its franks across the country.
The hot dog is not only one of the most integral foods in American culture, it is also one of the most varied. In light of Independence Day in the U.S., animators Alisa Stern and Alan Haburchak have compiled various takes on the frank spanning from New York to Seattle. Where chili, raw onions and cheddar cheese are the norm in Detroit, we find that cream cheese finds its way into Seattle’s iteration, while New York’s sauerkraut and mustard combination is the East Coast classic. No matter your preference though, there’s no better, simpler way to observe unity than with a hot dog on July 4.
