After Nike surprisingly expanded out of Manhattan with its outlet store in Queens, New York, the sportswear behemoth is now hoping to make a mark in another borough. Brooklyn will be getting its own Nike Store located at 2236 Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush. This latest retail opening is the result of a development project that is bringing big box retailers to the Brooklyn College and Triangle Junction mall, with the location near an existing Target and 60,000 square feet of retail space across the street. The whopping 20,000-square-foot Nike store is billed as a Nike Community Store program, which aims to create jobs while giving back to the local community. It is the second community store on the East Coast, the first having opened in Washington, D.C. earlier this year to much fanfare. Stay tuned for opening details soon.
