'Call of Duty: Black Ops III' "Ember" Teaser Trailer

Ahead of the game’s upcoming reveal is yet another teaser for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Dubbed “Ember,” the piece kicks off with a foreboding tagline (“mankind’s greatest mistake will be its inability to control the technology it has created”) before depicting a timelapse montage of humanity’s technological advancements — from our current age of wearables through a progression that includes the likes of “modified athletes” in 2025, the first networked brain-to-brain connection in 2041, DNA upgrades and organ replacements for the upper class in 2051, commercially available retinal implants in 2055, and more. As you might expect, the advancements ultimately lead to worldwide chaos with riots breaking out across the globe in protest as scientists continue to play god — a seemingly justified concern when a whistleblower comes forward with information about the American military’s ability to transform everyday human beings into powerful “super soldiers” through neural control, limb replacement and other means.
