Dr. Dre dropped by Big Boy’s Neighborhood this week to talk about the upcoming N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton. Although the rapper-turned-producer-turned-entrepreneur wanted nothing to do with the movie initially, he changed his mind once he began working with everybody on set:
“Once we got in it, it started feeling good. I was on the set everyday making sure — not babysitting but making sure I agreed with everything that was happening,” Dre said during the interview.
In regards to what he hopes people take away from the movie:
“I hope they can be inspired. That was the main word that we used when we went into this. We wanted to be inspirational, we want to show the ultimate brotherhood, betrayal, you know?”
According to Dre, the movie will also shed light on the group’s feelings towards women, which he states is a misconception (which is a little hard to believe considering these were the guys behind songs such as “One Less B**ch” and “A B**ch Iz A B**ch,” but we’ll see).
