Typically delivered to the fast food joints in sealed tubs and sold in-store only, McDonald’s Big Mac “Secret Sauce” will soon be available to customers outside of the golden arches — in Australia anyway. The fast food giant announced this week that it would sell just 200 500ml bottles of the closely-guarded concoction at McDonald’s locations across Australia while another bottle will be auctioned off on eBay with proceeds going to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Said McDonald’s Australia chief marketing officer Mark Lollback of the endeavor:
Big Mac sauce is one of the most iconic McDonald’s ingredients and people often ask us where they can buy it, so we’re excited to be the first country in the world to offer tubs of Big Mac sauce to our customers.
Sale of the sauce could potentially point to future plans by McDonald’s to offer a range of products at retail in hopes of boosting profits — last year the company saw earnings fall 30% from the month of July through September.
