Nike's Upcoming Kyrie 2 Helps Kyrie Irving Defy the Laws of Physics
Can the Nike Kyrie 1 sequel make the same impact as its debut?

After a successful signature shoe debut in the Nike Kyrie 1, NBA All Star Kyrie Irving and Nike are back to deliver the highly anticipated sequel to the first Nike Basketball performance model: the Nike Kyrie 2. Despite Kyrie missing a crucial part of the NBA Finals last season along with significant time during this season as well, designer Leo Chang and the Swoosh has still maintained to provide a sense of innovation during the development of Irving’s second signature model. Being known for having one of the most deadliest crossovers in the NBA today, Irving requires a performance shoe that’s able to withstand pressure at a constant basis.
The Nike Kyrie 2 introduces a first-of-its-kind curved midsole and outsole that’s aimed to support Kyrie Irving’s swift and agile cutting movements, deceleration, and the ability to stop on a dime. According to John Brenkus, the creator/host of ESPN’s Sport Science, Irving pushed off of the hardwood floor with 770 pounds of force at an impressive 40-degree angle. As a result, Nike has introduced a curved surface for the Kyrie 2’s midsole and outsole. Additionally, to complement Irving’s speed and agility, he can also use his deceleration abilities in order to get the best of his defenders. Kyrie Irving’s ability to start and stop at an alarming rate is controlled by the traction pattern and strapping system on the Kyrie 2 along with added comfort and impact responsiveness which is found in the heel’s Zoom Air unit. The Nike Kyrie 2 is available now on NIKEiD and will debut in an “Effect” colorway on December 15. The “Inferno” colorway, seen above, will release on January 1 with both editions being available on Nike’s website and select Nike retailers.
