Scarlett Johansson to Star in Dreamworks-Produced 'Ghost in the Shell'

After nicely fitting into her role as Black Widow in Marvel’s Avengers series, here Scarlett Johansson is set to take on yet another action role in Dreamworks‘ forthcoming adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. The cult-favorite cyberpunk anime, originally created by Masamune Shirow in 1989, follows the exploits of the Public Security Section 9 special-ops task force as they stealthily protect the fictional New Port City. The original manga series has since evolved into an anime, video game and animated film, while Steven Spielberg (longtime fan of the series) and Dreamworks acquired rights to produce a live-action version back in 2008. Although the official trailer or production might be a way off, this news is sure to excite fans of the series and Johansson alike. Stay tuned for more news surrounding this as it comes in.
