Noisey Atlanta presents the third installment to its series titled Gucci Mane & Jeezy, Trap Lords. In this segment, Thomas Morton sits down with Coach K. who talks about the origins of trap music and its explosion on Atlanta’s hip-hop scene through the introduction of Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane and producer Zaytoven. The video also speaks on Gucci and Jeezy’s 2004 hit ”So Icy,” the duo’s one and only collaborative release before the start of a longstanding feud which lead to Gucci’s murder charges and current imprisonment. While Gucci is behind bars, he’s still a prominent figure in the genre, releasing projects and helping leverage new Atlanta artists such as Rich Homie Quan, 2 Chainz, Migos and iLoveMakonnen.
