After teaming up back in 2013 to launch “adidas SPEZIAL: An Incomplete adidas History from a Fan’s Perspective,” Three Stripes super fan Gary Aspden and adidas Originals came together last year to introduce a collaborative capsule collection of archive-inspired pieces. Now the two have joined forces yet again, crafted yet another adidas Originals x SPEZIAL collection, this one for Spring/Summer 2015.
Highlighted in the upcoming issue of The Green Soccer Journal, this season’s adidas Originals x SPEZIAL drop — shot and styled here by Pelle Crépin and Jordan Schneider, respectively — draws upon the Blackburn-loving Aspden’s own past and zeitgeist of the late ’80s. The result is a predominately blue and grey release that features the likes of knit tracksuits, lightweight anoraks, polos and more — all of which don subtle adidas x SPEZIAL co-branding.
You can check out the entirety of the editorial above while a lengthy piece on Aspden — in which he talks skill, hard work, and why Acid House changed football forever — can be perused over at The Green Soccer Journal‘s website and in the upcoming issue of the publication. Issue 8 of TGSJ can be pre-ordered now online while the Spring/Summer 2015 installment of the adidas Originals x SPEZIAL collab is due out in the weeks ahead.
