With the release of Apple Music earlier this summer, many of its features including Beats 1 Radio, and perfectly human-curated playlists to accompany any type of mood, action or party has been widely celebrated. The boss of the Alphabet, Google’s parent company however thinks otherwise. Eric Schmidt believes that artificial intelligence will develop and touch on its use in music. He also stated that one’s much better off building a smart system that can learn from the real world to see what will most likely be popular next. “As a bonus, it’s a much less elitist taste-making process – much more democratic – allowing everyone to discover the next big star through our own collective tastes and not through the individual preferences of a select few.” Google Play uses human-curated playlists so we’re not quite sure what he means by his statements, but we’re looking forward to seeing what the company’s future holds.
