Dr. Dre‘s new album Compton was a hit, and the N.W.A biopic — which hit theaters nationwide this weekend and brought in $56.1 million — probably further contributed to the album’s success. Compton debuted at No. 2 on Billboard with 295,000 equivalent album unit, with 276,000 of those copies were pure album sales. The LP also hit the No. 1 spot on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, making it his third chart-topping behind his previous releases 2001 and The Chronic. However, Luke Bryan’s Kill the Lights placed ahead at the No. 1 spot overall at 345,000 units sold, making it the third-highest of 2015 after Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly and Drake’s If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late.
