It was recently announced that Kanye West will be performing at the Pan Am Games closing ceremonies, which will take place in Toronto next week. During a press conference, John Tory, the mayor of the city was asked about his opinion on this, to which he replied:
“I won’t say that I spend every single night at home listening to his music, but, you know what, I’m smart enough to know that a lot of people do.”
If he stopped there, his assumption would have been very correct. However, he continued:
“And I’m smart enough to know that he’s a proud product of our music industry here, as are a number of others.”
Yes, Toronto’s mayor just mistook the Chicago artist for being a proud product of the Canadian music industry. Watch the video below and witness the mix-up for yourselves.
