On the 30th of April, popular music streaming service Grooveshark was forced to shut down after six years of fighting against legal battles. Unfortunately, it has recently been reported that Josh Greenberg, the co-founder of the streaming service, was found dead in his home on Sunday. The body of the 28-year-old was found by his girlfriend, Abby Mayer, in his Gainesville, Florida home after she had returned from an out-of-town trip during the weekend. The local police reveal that there is “no evidence of foul play or suicide,” and although an autopsy took place Monday morning, the results have yet to be publicized. Currently, drugs do not seem to be involved, but a full toxicology report would take two to three months to complete.
His mother, Lori Greenberg, shares with The Gainesville Sun that she is “baffled” by the incident because to her knowledge, he was more relieved than depressed about closing Grooveshark and “was excited about potential new things that he was going to start.” Our prayers and condolences go to the family and friends of Greenberg.
