Ryn Weaver is poised to have an incredible career ahead of her in the near future. Her releases in 2014 have set her up for a successful 2015, and she’s continuing to carve out her path with a new visual for the title track off her forthcoming debut album. The video for “The Fool” comes a month after the song’s release, and just a month before the release of the album from which it derives its name. Weaver’s new clip is said to take its inspirational cues from the revered Japanese anime company Studio Ghilbi. Ryn Weaver told FADER the following in a description of the video:
“I wanted to touch on the shifting power dynamic within relationships in a surrealist, psychedelic medium…I’ve come to realize that my own empowerment has the tendency to result in emasculation and a new dependency that only heightens my fear of commitment. When working on the treatment I got a slight Studio Ghibli vibe—let’s see if we pulled it off.”
