Yesterday, M.I.A. took it to Twitter to bring attention to the apparent prevention of one of her videos being released. She is blaming the subsequent push back on “cultural appropriation,” stating ”I’ve been told I can’t put out a video because it’s shot in Africa.” She went on to point out filming was done on the Ivory Coast and that her video features a dancer that she describes as “one of the best in the wide world.” Obviously, disturbed by industry politics, it’s rather surprising that she does not fully disclose exactly who is at the head of the hold up.
