'Revolutions on Air' Documents New York Radio From 1980-1988

The ’80s was a genre-expanding time for New York. Despite going through bankruptcy — with the increase of crime and poverty across its boroughs — a number of radio personalities led a sonic revolution, which in turn resulted in the breakthrough of various strains in hip-hop and dance. Produced by Red Bull Music Academy, the documentary dubbed Revolutions on Air, speaks with the likes of DJ Spinna, Stretch Armstrong, Kool DJ Red Alert and more on the influential decade.
