Stream Gil Scott-Heron's Album 'Nothing New,' Watch Accompanying Documentary 'Who Is Gil Scott-Heron?'

During the 2008 recording of the album I’m New Here Gil Scott-Heron laid down stripped-down versions of some of his greatest hits. On last year’s Record Store Day, Nothing New, a compilation of work from those same sessions with XL Recordings owner and producer Richard Russell, was released. To celebrate what would be Mr. Scott-Heron’s 66th birthday, the project has been released digitally with a bonus documentary titled Who Is Gil Scott-Heron?. Directors of the British documentary 20,000 Days on Earth, Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth, are not only the filmmakers behind Who Is Gil Scott-Heron?, but also directed one of his final videos, the 2011 music video/promo clip for I’m New Here. You can watch the first chapter of Who Is Gil Scott-Heron? here and stream the album below.
