Since launching back in 1984 as a black and white 16-page fold-out, PAPER Magazine has evolved over the past three decades to become one of the most respected pop-culture publications around, offering insightful interviews and covering everything from fashion and nightlife to music, art, and film. Now, to celebrate its 30-year anniversary, the New York-based imprint presents “Original Gangsters” — a comprehensive series of interviews with 37 OGs. By no means exhaustive, the list of participants does well to paint a picture of the magazine’s evolution and its current existence. A nod to artists, visionaries, icons, and iconoclasts, the series includes interviews with the likes of Hiroshi Fujiwara, James Jebbia, Rick Owens, Richard Branson, Larry Clark, Giorgio Moroder, Jeremy Scott, Shane Smith, Danny Bowien, Dave Eggers, Angel Haze, and many more. PAPER‘s September 2014 30th anniversary issue is now available on newsstands while the “Original Gangsters” interviews can be read online in their entirety.
