Fresh off its showcase at this season’s London Collections: Men, London-based maharishi unveils its “VIET-AFGHAN COALITION TOUR” video. Splicing together footage from the Middle East with a look at the label’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection, the piece retraces the footsteps of Italian artist Alighiero Boetti who, in 1967, became the first artist to take military disruptive patterned cloth and present it in a gallery context following his discovery of beautiful Telo Mimetico-printed surplus fabric rolls in a Trieste flea market – an event that’s had a profound effect on the British label since its inception in 1994. Look for camouflage to once again figure prominently as maharishi continues to recycle the aesthetic of vintage military clothing with its forthcoming 2015 releases.
