As a football-obsessed youngster growing up in the Brazilian coastal city of Santos, Neymar was always on a fruitless hunt for golden boots, resorting instead to spray painting his own kicks when he couldn’t come across any to his liking. Now, fresh off four goals in the group stage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the Seleção phenom is set to receive a stunning new gold version of the Nike Hypervenom Phantom in time for Brazil’s upcoming match in the round of 16. Originally launched back in May of 2013 and donned by Neymar in Rio de Janeiro for the Confederations Cup, the Hypervenom Phantom features a NIKESKIN upper of supple mesh bound with a thin polyurethane film, All Conditions Control (ACC) technology for superior foot-to-ball control in both wet and dry conditions, and a decoupled outsole crafted with insights from the world’s top podiatrists. Complete with bright yellow accents and a custom footbed graphic, the special gold edition of the Hypervenom Phantom is set to hit Nike.com on June 26 – just ahead of Brazil’s June 28 showdown with Chile.
