Lucien Smith “Tigris” @ Skarstedt Gallery

American artist Lucien Smith has unveiled his latest body of work “Tigris.” Inspired by one of the first works of art he can recall, Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa, the 11 paintings reflect ancient bodies of water and the military camouflage patterns utilized by the South Vietnamese soldiers during the ’60s. In line with Smith’s previous works, this series revolves around the exploration of memories of the natural world through the process of abstraction. The works are on display at Skarstedt Gallery in New York until June 27.
