PayPal becomes the latest tech giant to redesign its branding with a more modern approach. “What do you do when a brand that entered the world as an innovator starts to look like the establishment it once challenged? When a comprehensive visual audit of the brand confirms this truth, you decide it’s time for a redesign,” said PayPal in a press release. Although a third of the world’s financial servicing brands use blue as a corporate color, PayPal wanted to still retain its signature hue without looking too conservative. The difficulty in revamping the logo of any financial institution is maintaining the same trust and comfort its users had during the era of the old look. Designed by fuseproject, the new image is built around four key elements – “a stronger wordmark set in modified Futura, a new monogram of PayPal’s double Ps, more vibrant colors and a dynamic angle graphic.” PayPal also stressed the new image was needed to align more effectively with mobile and wearable tech - a market we here at HYPEBEAST have been following for quite some time.
