Lupe Fiasco and Futura Join U.S. Soccer Campaign for 2014 FIFA World Cup
U.S. Soccer has announced Lupe Fiasco and Futura as Music Director and Artistic Director, respectively, for the United States men’s team’s FIFA World Cup campaign this year. In his new role, Lupe Fiasco will be responsible for creating Spotify playlists with his DJ group SNDCLSH, handling in-game music programming during the Send-Off series, and making public appearances alongside the team. Meanwhile, artist Futura will produce the team’s official World Cup poster, limited-edition skate deck designs and several limited-edition pieces for the event. Additionally, he will create live works at Fan Appreciation Day on May 30 and the United States Soccer Fan Fest in Chicago on June 16, with proceeds from the sale of these pieces going to Lupe Fiasco’s “Mission” campaign against cancer.
