'The Man Behind The Mountain' A Short Film About American Folk Artist Leonard Knight

A monument built with optimistic messages and bold colors, Salvation Mountain is located in the Colorado Desert on the Mexican border in Southern California. Made entirely from adobe, straw and paint, the spectacle has been an ongoing project for the last three decades and presents itself as a physical testament to love and hope. In this poignant clip, filmmakers Ben Stoddard and Dave Ehrenreich explore the mountain and learn more about the unassuming man behind Salvation Mountain, Leonard Knight, who’s strung together numerous murals and bible versus in one striking folk art rendition.
