Not long after the groundbreaking release of its Magista soccer silhouette ahead of this summer’s World Cup, Nike’s soccer division has just unveiled another lightweight take on one of its classic shoe families. The Flyknit Mercurial Superfly IV, unveiled in Madrid just earlier today, is the culmination of four years of R&D, and also represents an earnest progression in lightweight soccer cleats. Accordingly, the Mercurial Superfly sees Nike‘s hallmark Flyknit technology around the entire upper, reinforced with Superfly Brio cables that connect the upper and the outsole to propel the wearer forward. At the outsole, the cleat features a flexible, yet supportive full-length carbon plate, while elsewhere studs have been added to increase traction. Look for the new Mercurial Superfly to drop officially on June 12, while pre-orders will begin at Nike.com on May 26.
