This is underlined in the Air Jordan XX9, unveiled just yesterday, which marks the introduction of Nike’s latest innovation: Flightweave. Flightweave takes influence from the process of knitting and weaving to create a one-piece seamless upper, reducing weight while also leaving room to infuse a Flywire-like lacing system at the sides. Even fused with the outsole – which sports a new stabilizing tendril at the Flightplate – the resulting silhouette is not only lighter than its predecessors by 8%, it’s one of the most durable as well.
