A stalwart of the ever-changing soundscape of “bass music,” Henry Steinway, better known by his stage name RL Grime or Clockwork — depending on which electro sub genre he’s pursuing at any given time — debuted in 2011 with a slew of bootlegs and remixes. As a member of Los Angeles music collective WeDidIT, RL Grime continues to cause sonic ruckus via releases on the likes of Fool’s Gold, Dim Mak and Mad Decent, while remixes for Chief Keef, Drake, Cam’ron, Shlohmo and most prominently Kanye West’s “Mercy” — which garnered over 2 million SoundCloud plays — offer other examples of his adept productions. Following from last summer’s ‘Infinite Daps’ tour where RL Grime was joined by bass heavyweights Baauer, Ryan Hemsworth and Jim-E Stack on a list of dates across the U.S., the 23-year-old producer continues to escapade across the globe with a light selection of Essentials seen here.
