Opening Ceremony 2014 Spring/Summer Editorial

Opening Ceremony was launched in 2002 as a way for founders, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, to share their passions for travel, art and fashion. Taking its name from the modern Olympic Games, OC quickly adopted a multinational approach to retail, stocking both international and emerging homegrown designers and pitting them against each other in a spirit of friendly competition.

More than a decade later, the retailer’s in-house brand continues to channel multicultural influences with its latest collection for Spring/Summer 2014. Drawing inspiration from unlikely sources like suburban LA drag racing culture and traditional Korean garb, the new range features exhaust fume jacquard motifs, sporty asymmetrical panels, bold logo graphics and pojagi-inspired patchwork patterns. This season’s standouts include the Pojagi Jacquard Asymmetrical Bomber — a Korean-influenced design with an asymmetrical zip closure — the silk jacquard-paneled Magpie Insert sweatshirt, and a range of OC Logo sweats that contrast minimal silhouettes with bold graphic logo prints. Rounding out the new releases, meanwhile, is a pair of graphic sweatshirts from the brand’s Elvis capsule collection.
