An unlikely musical partnership between Frank Ocean, Diplo, and two members of classic punk outfit The Clash has produced one of the better singles to release this season. “Hero” is the product of Converse’s “Three Artists, One Song” initiative, which as the name implies brings an eclectic trio of pop artists together for a kind of sonic fusion experiment. “Hero” maintains Diplo’s lesser-known affinity for trippy dancehall with Paul Simonon and Mick Jones’ own harmonic approach to reggae. Frank Ocean smoothly croons his way through the song, further made epic by a children’s choir toward the middle. Indeed as original a track as Converse intended, enjoy “Hero” above.
