Last night in Jersey City, Kanye West made a surprise appearance at The Dopeness — a Mexican restaurant hosting their monthly ‘Wolf Juice’ hip-hop open mic session. Yeezy was in attendance to support a young female rapper Jahmila Sandifer, aka Jay Hype, who is reportedly the daughter of a close family friend. Though he didn’t stay too long, he was able to see Jay perform her track “K.O.W.,” dubbed after ‘Ye (Kanye Omari West). Speaking on Kanye (who she sometimes refers to as Uncle ‘Ye), she says:
“Kanye is a very, very big idol in my life and I try to incorporate the stuff he does into my work,” said Sandifer. “He gives me pointers and I take it very seriously…his opinion is always in the back of my mind.”
Must be nice to have that kind of star power behind you and attending your shows. Last night was Jay Hype’s first showcase debut at ‘Wolf Juice.’ Check out the 17-year-old’s “K.O.W.” track below.
