Polaroid has announced that it will release a social media and insta-print camera dubbed “Socialmatic” in 2014, a concept that was originally unveiled back in 2012. The Android-based Socialmatic is equipped with a 14 megapixel front-facing and 2 megapixel back-facing camera. The camera’s built-in Wi-Fi allows captured images to be uploaded directly to social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google+ and more – and the ink-less on-board printer allows for 2×3 sticker prints to be processed on the move. Featuring a retro design and a 4.5-inch touchscreen, the Socialmatic is expected to be released in fall 2014. No word yet on the camera’s price point, although we do know that a pack of 80 heat-activated Zink sheets will cost approximately $30 USD.
