Launched back in 2011, the Black Mamba’s signature Kobe VII maximized on-court performance thanks to Nike‘s supportive design and a customizable cushioning system while also offering a nod to Kobe’s predatory instincts on the hardwood with an outer shell combining cues from the likes of a leopard, great white shark and, of course, a black mamba. Now the silhouette joins those before it as the latest release from Nike Basketball’s celebratory “Prelude” pack. Marked by plays on cubist art, the Cool Grey/Metallic Gold-Black shoe includes a mural-like graphic across the entirety of the upper while metallic gold accents – including a laurel wreath and the number 10 at the heel – pay homage to Bryant’s gold medal-winning performance at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Retailing for $200 USD, the Kobe VII “Prelude” launches globally this Saturday, January 18 at select retailers and Nike.com.
