After garnering favorable reviews on the festival circuit including at the Venice Film Festival where it debuted in August of 2013, James Franco’s Child of God may soon see a wider release in theaters. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Cormac McCarthy, the film explores society, cruelty and isolation through the eyes of Lester Ballard, an outcast from Tennessee who sinks deeper and deeper into crime and violence as he strives to exist outside the norm. The film stars Texas actor Scott Haze as Ballard and was both written and directed by James Franco. At present, the film does not yet have a U.S. distributor, but until then take a look at the newly-released first trailer.
