Guapa Designs Sustainable Bamboo Bike

English bicycle company Guapa has produced a series of eco-friendly bikes with frames made with bamboo, one of the world’s fastest growing plants and sustainable construction materials. With the aim of reducing the future use of carbon fiber – common in the manufacture of many sports equipment items due to its light weight and strength – the frames are mostly made out of bamboo fibers with some carbon, resulting in a frame that is smooth, sturdy and natural-looking. While the bike frames are influenced by the same cutting edge technologies and aesthetics seen in extreme sports such as surfing and wake boarding, the wood-like grain of the bamboo and the multi-piece construction allow the bikes to retain a classic feel. The first series to be produced by Guapa will include a single speed bike as well as a Dutch town bike. Those looking to get one can look forward to them when they launch next year, but for now, you can visit Guapa’s website for further details on their design and construction.
