Whether it’s within the pages of Ride BMX or rolling up to this year’s MTV VMAs, Nigel Sylvester always seems to be smiling. It makes sense though – if you were a 26-year-old BMX phenom, you’d be cheesing too. After recently unveiling – in notably flashy fashion – his recent venture with Pharrell, the Queens native has seemingly risen to even higher prominence. Sylvester’s name always lined the lips of BMX’s toughest critics, if not for his aggressive approach to street riding then for his immense popularity among inner-city kids. Now grown into his role as a contemporary ambassador for the sport, Sylvester has a bit of breathing room to relax, and focus on what really matters: his bike. What Sylvester carries reflects this, with a bike tool, custom seat and trusty smartphone all key components of his kit. Sure, it’s always nice to ride around the open cityscape on a bike, but some places are just better when arrived to in a Range Rover. Enjoy Sylvester’s Essentials above.
