Apple, the reigning champion of Cupertino, seeks to venture into the internet radio game through the launch of iTunes Radio, a move that was announced today. In light of powerful advances by Spotify, the tech behemoth takes some pages from its competitors’ books to unveil the ad-supported service as a part of the iOS 7 mobile update. iTunes Radio will create playlists or “stations,” based off of a user’s existing library, streaming from iTunes‘ catalog of music. Further, users are able to make requests for stations using Siri. This move is especially poignant given iTunes’ existing library, which is arguably the most extensively licensed digital library available. The service is free for iOS users and within iTunes on Windows devices. Check out iTunes Radio today, and be sure to leave a note of comparison below.
