More than merely a new colorway, Nike SB is set to unveil a new iteration of the Dunk Low Pro “Shanghai” SP. One of China’s brightest shining stars, Shanghai is a storied city with a deep, rich cultural history. This is best represented by the city’s traditional architecture, still found in the ‘Shikumen’ townhouses that row the inner city. The upper portion of the shoe takes cues from these somewhat endangered structures, relieving the iconic Shikumen window styles into the suede trim. This is offset by white premium leather, a gold Swoosh, and most notably a tongue patch symbolizing good luck and fortune. A print on the insole makes a reference to the posh Luwan District, which was renamed by the Shanghai Government in 2011. Releasing on September 1, look for the Asia release of the shoe at a special launch party in Shanghai, with limited distribution following in the United States.
