When a former adidas Technical Director was moving out of his home last year, the now 90-year-old creative stumbled across a prototype to the City Marathon PT in his attic. Locked away from the public for almost a third of a century, this model was originally designed with marathon runners in mind. Its classical silhouette incorporates the shoemaker’s patented Dellinger Web technology as it disperses impact shock to cushion one’s stride to bring a springy bounce with each step as if moving on a trampoline. For its 2013 fall/winter range adidas Originals will release a three-part collection with colorways that pay homage to the cities of Berlin, Chicago and New York. Each model further features a subtle nod to marathon racing by listing the distance it takes to complete a course: 42.195km. Expect to see the City Marathon Pack at select retailers starting September 1.
