Following a preview via Yo’Hood Fashion Festival, we now have a closer look at the Undefeated x CLOT x Converse First String 2013 Chuck Taylor All Star. The sneaker collection consists of two styles that combine iconic elements from each brand, fusing Undefeated’s military and sport-driven ethos with CLOT’s lens on Eastern and Western urban lifestyle culture. To find out more about the project, we recently sat down with Undefeated’s James Bond for a brief chat on his relationship with CLOT, how they shared ideas, and his brand’s presence in Asia. Read on for the interview in its entirety and stay tuned for the special pre-launch event at UNDFTD Las Vegas on August 20. The Undefeated x CLOT x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers will be available in all U.S. UNDFTD and Asia JUICE stores on August 24.
What was the inspiration for this project?
We used past design elements from both Undefeated and CLOT Cons projects to create this collaboration.
What was the main objective of this three-way collaboration?
First, it’s the relationship we have personally with Edison and Kevin. From there, it was only natural that we would support each other on the business side and lastly, Converse has been really supportive of both brands, so it basically was a no-brainer for the three of us to work together.
What is Undefeated’s positioning in China and Asia right now?
For us, it’s a great opportunity to continue to build our brand and bring a part of American culture to the Asian market.
With multiple parties involved, how did you balance ideas and executions?
Well, there was mutual respect for all involved, so if someone brought in an idea and it was all agreed upon, the party bringing in idea led. It also depended on each others workload for most part.
What does Converse Chuck Taylor mean to you?
Classic.
What are UNDFTD’s plans for Asia in the near future?
To have a stronger presence in Asia sooner than later.
