Emily Hodgson and Emilie Riis are huge fans of Nike sneakers, but when it comes to actually buying a pair for themselves, the two ladies are faced with the frustration of overly feminine colorways rather than the slick textures and gradients they see in men’s sizes. Keen to get their share of Nike’s plays with leather, suede and adventurous color palette, the two have created Purple Unicorn Planet, a fantasy shoe site that showcases the extent of their fandom. Displaying their select favorite Nike kicks on the home page, the site aims to vocalize the frustrations felt by women who want a slice of the kicks in the menswear section, and they’re sparking a movement to get Nike to #pleasejustdoit and start making their freshest shoes available in women’s sizes.
