Brooklyn native Dave Ortiz, renowned for contributing designs and inspiration to companies such as Nike, Vans and his founded upon brand DQM, is currently showcasing a mix of personal drawings and paintings in his solo exhibition “The 20 Year Retrospective” at the prestigious ArtNowNY gallery in the Chelsea district of New York City. Attendees of the packed opening reception party on July 11th were able to see up-close the mystery and complexity in Dave’s artwork, with imagery ranging from loving embraces, angels and demons, boxers, and even his adorable dog Squishy. The artist was able to price certain pieces for interested aficionados, each with eye-opening yet respectable price tags. As if the gallery presence wasn’t enough, Dave also shed light not only on the second anniversary celebration of his store Dave’s Wear House but also the beginning of ANOTHERWHIP, his very own company specializing in fixed gear bikes.
